Sobre el libro

Zoom Books es una colección de tres sesiones fotográficas tomadas por Catherine Walsh a través de Zoom y convertidas en arte visual por Pénélope Delaur.

Catherine quiso colaborar con amigxs durante los confinamientos relacionados con el Covid-19. En ese momento, estaba en Dublín, viviendo sola en un piso pequeño. Las restricciones eran aislantes. No podía ir más allá de 5 km de su casa ni reunirse con nadie. De repente, todo estaba en Zoom: enviar a las personas un enlace era la “nueva forma normal” de pasar un rato juntxs, trabajar, hacer ejercicio, etc. Entonces, ¿por qué no una nueva forma de hacer arte?

Si bien la fotografía tradicionalmente requiere que el sujeto esté cerca, las restricciones y el cambio a las interacciones digitales han cambiado la forma en que percibimos la distancia. Catherine decidió tomarlo como una oportunidad para colaborar con amigas de varios lugares de Europa:

Karianne, una bailarina en Oslo, Noruega.
Evelyn, una bailarina en Poznan, Polonia.
Pénélope, una modelo en Valencia, España.

About the book

Zoom Books is a collection of three photo shoots taken by Catherine Walsh through Zoom conference and made into visual art by Pénélope Delaur.

Catherine was inspired to collaborate with friends during the Covid-19 lockdowns. At the time, she was in Dublin, living alone in a small studio apartment. The restrictions were isolating. She couldn’t go beyond 5 km from her home or meet up with anyone. All of a sudden, everything was on Zoom — sending people a link was the ‘new normal’ way of hanging out, working, exercising, etc. So, why not a new way to make art?

While photography traditionally requires your subject to be nearby, restrictions and the shift to online interactions had changed how we perceived distance. Catherine decided to take this as an opportunity to collaborate with friends in different locations around Europe:

Karianne, a dancer in Oslo, Norway.
Evelyn, a dancer in Poznan, Poland.
Pénélope, a model in Valencia, Spain.
